The Audi Q7

Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 is a seven-seat, luxury crossover SUV.  Beneath its bonnet there is a choice of three engines, 3.6 litre V6, 4.2 litre V8 or turbo diesel 3 litre V6.  All models come with all-wheel drive and feature a six-speed automatic transmission.

The performance figures for various engines are quite reasonable for this type of car.  The V8 is expected to achieve 0-60mph in around 8 seconds flat; an almost equally impressive 8.3 seconds for the diesel V6 and about 9.5 seconds for the V6.

The standard Audi Q7 Premium 3.6 boasts 18-inch wheels, rear parking sensors, a power lift rear door, heated front seats, trip computer, two zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth enabled, Multi Media Interface with monitor and a superior audio system with six-CD multi changer, iPod integration, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack.

The Audi Q7 Prestige 4.2 has all the features of the 3.6 litre with the Prestige package with S line exterior trim, an adjustable steering column and the suitably named Warm Weather package, which includes four zone climate control and rear side window and cargo area sun-shades.

The Audi Q7 has all the safety equipment you would expect of a car in this class, including antilock brakes and stability control system.  One of the most interesting safety features is Audi's blind-spot warning system, which alerts the driver whenever another vehicle comes up alongside to overtake.

On the downside, the Audi Q7 has a few drawbacks.  The vehicle’s weight hampers acceleration and fuel economy, the third-row seat is somewhat cramped and there is no factory fitted rear-seat entertainment system.  Overall, however, the Audi Q7 is ideal for families and extended touring.
